Cheoy Lee's Alpha Series Express Set To Debut At Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show
Not only are boat shows good for drinking and lusting over a plethora of pretty vessels for sale, it's also where brand new yachts are debuted. New to the game is Cheoy Lee's 87 Alpha Series Express Sportbridge, which can be seen at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which runs October 31 through November 4.
The 87-foot Sportbridge has an open cockpit that makes navigation and lounging fun and easy. The dual platform hull configuration was created by Michael Peters Yachts Design and is described much in the same way one would describe a woman – you know she's beautiful, though you may not know why. "It is the designer's job to know why a yacht is beautiful. The hull and deck lines must work together harmoniously–combining proportion, detail and form. Cheoy Lee gave us a free hand in design and did a beautiful job of execution," says Peters.
The aft deck lounge features spacious seating areas and a retractable awning that can give some necessary shade from the elements. You will also find a hot tub and twin stairs that lead from the deck to a swimming platform and garage where you can keep your 10-foot tender.
The interior is the work of Luiz de Basto, bringing in clean lines and contemporary styling with wood, leather, marble and glass. "It is difficult to find workmanship of this caliber in yachts of this size," says de Basto. "We wanted to establish the Alpha brand in an upscale position and Cheoy Lee embraced the idea. The custom sliding glass doors open completely, offering seamless flow from the salon, bar and galley to the aft deck — even the floor pattern integrates the formal interior and open space."
There are four state rooms with en suite bathrooms and a full-beam master with a king size bed, lounging space, walk-in closet, vanity, and walk-in shower. The Queen VIP stateroom has a queen guest cabin to port and a twin cabin to starboard, all furnished and spacious.
The yacht is powered with a C-32 Caterpillar 1900 hp ACERTS, which you can expect over 30 knots from. The price is not yet released, but if you want to check it out for yourself, you better get to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show!
