Celebrity Chefs Open New Airport Eateries
Jamie Oliver and Michael Symon are the next celebrity chefs to put their names on airport restaurants.
Oliver has opened three new eateries at London's Gatwick Airport, just in time to feed the visitors pouring in for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Located in the North Terminal of the airport, travelers can grab takeaway foods like salads and brownies from Jamie's Italian Bakery or enjoy the antipasto bar at Jamie's Italian, which also features a fresh pasta-making area and a full-size pizza oven. Those seeking British comfort food and a pint can stop at Union Jacks Bar, which offers a full British menu of small plates and sandwiches as well as a beer cellar.
Across the pond, Symon has opened his first airport restaurant at Pittsburgh International Airport. The Iron Chef, known for Lola in Cleveland has opened Bar Symon, located in the airport's Airmall. The reincarnation of the bar, which closed in Avon Lake in Cleveland in 2012, serves his signature Lola Burger and other comfort foods.
