Capella Washington D.C. Hosts Monthly Trunk Show Series With Top Designers
Washington D.C. may be all about their tailored suits and smart blazers, but in a place where status means everything, there's still a place for fashion-forward stylistas to stand out among the blacks, whites and grays. To aid guests and locals in their search for the best looks and brands, Capella Washington D.C., Georgetown has partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue to offer monthly trunk shows highlighting the capital city's best couture fashions and edgy designers.
As a part of Capella's mission to enrich experiences by delivering a picture of local culture and lifestyle, the brand has begun partnerships with many of the area's organizations and businesses including The Washington Ballet and The International Spy Museum. With this in mind, Capella D.C. unveiled their fashion series which kicked off its first event on September 18. Curating each show, D.C.'s resident stylist and MyDCStyle.com founder April Yvonne led off the series with Italian designer Giuseppe Zanotti's men's and women shoe collections.
Hailing from a small town in Italy, the celebrated designer's styles have been making their way into celebrity closets such as Beyoncé, Kylie Minogue, Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kanye West. Zanotti works through every type of shoe from high-fashion heels to decked out crystal-embellished sneakers. His first collection only hit the fashion world in 2000 and has since won numerous awards including the "Prix d'Excellence de la Mode" for the best footwear collection by Marie Claire International in 2010. Original and addictive, his collections are quickly becoming known for their craftsmanship and artistry.
Held in various settings, the hotel will continue to seek out the best labels for each event, putting a heavy emphasis on local boutiques and designers. Most shows will also give attendees the option to purchase items direct or place orders with the featured brand. As a bonus, stylist April Yvonne will be available to work with guests on their individual tastes, needs and style expectations while giving them insight into D.C.'s high-powered world of fashion. Executive Chef Jakob Esko will also provide light bites alongside beverages during the events.
