Building a Life of Dignity in Ribeira Valley of Brazil: The Role of Social Movements and Agroecology

A Brazilian social movement group, MAB, the Movement of Dam Affected People, is a peasant-led group developing and implementing actions against hydroelectric energy policies that have displaced thousands of rural farm families to the urban outskirts. The movement prides itself in improving the lives today and changing systems for tomorrow through utilizing agroecology and community action to influence policy change.
