Sam Lagrassa's
44 Province St.
Boston, MA 02108
(617) 357-6861
www.samlagrassas.com

Sam Lagrassa's makes the best sandwiches in Boston, no question. Its perfectly greasy hot sandwiches are a favorite of men and women that work in the financial district. This restaurant's catering is sure to put a smile on everyone's face at the office, even if it's only Monday. The restaurant, which offers delivery, has been Boston's favorite since the late 1960s. The only downside of Sam Lagrassa's is that it isn't open on the weekends, so you really need to be in the city during the week to enjoy these unbeatable subs and sandwiches.

Monica's
130 Salem St.
Boston, MA 02113
(617) 742-4101

Monica's is the North End's most famous deli. The newly renovated shop offers Italian sodas, cheeses and chips, but most people go there for just one reason – the sandwiches. What better place to get an authentic Italian sub than in the North End? Plus, Monica's is right next door to Bova's Bakery so you can complete your North End meal by picking up a freshly made cannoli to go with your sandwich.

Boston, MA 02113

Just up the street from Monica's is another great sandwich shop, Pauli's. Pauli's is relatively new on the scene but offers a variety of warm and cold sandwiches, even lobster rolls, which has put it on the map. It offers delivery and is open on the weekends, making Pauli's the most convenient spot on the list so far. Plus, if you're not in the mood for a sandwich, Pauli's makes a fantastic mac 'n cheese.

Crema Cafe
27 Brattle St.
Cambridge, MA 02138
(617) 876-2700

Straying from the selection of classic sub makers on this list is Crema Cafe. Unlike the others, this chic shop is on the other side of the river in the heart of Harvard Square. While this seems like an unlikely place for a good sandwich, it actually serves top-notch panini. The vegetarian-friendly sweet potato sandwich is one of the tastiest and most unique offerings in the city. Next time you stop in to grab a coffee, get one of these sandwiches to go.

The Times
112 Broad St.
Boston, MA 02110
(617) 357-8463
www.timesirishpub.com

It's impossible to have a list of a "best of" list about Boston without including at least one Irish pub. The Times has outdoor seating with TV screens, making it a favorite for viewing summer Red Sox games and the World Cup. Its menu is a slight twist on the classic Irish pub fare. The sandwiches range from locally made sausage, to Cubans, to pulled pork, all of which are incredibly budget-friendly.
