A Big ‘Ole Piece of Magpie in Philadelphia

Move over cheese steak, make room for pie

Philadelphians are patiently waiting to welcome a new culinary treat to their city — pie. Magpie, known as an artisan pie boutique, was schedule to open its first location in June but now its opening has been pushed back to late July.

“Magpie needs a little more time in the oven” as it is stated on the company’s calendar.

Nevertheless residents are counting down the days until they can taste the seasonal pie offerings. Magpie’s extensive menu includes fruit options such as vanilla ginger peach streusel and grand berry oatmeal crumb pie, as well as savory flavors such as chicken tarragon with white wine sauce. And in honor of the state’s favorite pie, Magpie will also be serving up Pennsylvania Shoofly pie.

At Magpie customers can pick up a slice, or order a whole pie, but be warned that Magpie limits the number of whole pies made per a week, so be sure to pre-order.
