Andrew Lloyd Webber's first big show was created as a concept album in the late sixties. The show, "Jesus Christ Superstar," was Broadway's first rock opera. The show follows Jesus' rapid rise from religious rebel to cult figure. There are surprising parallels in the show to the cult of celebrity that surrounds us today. This look at the final days of the life of Jesus is presented with a pounding rock soundtrack and a highly theatrical backdrop.
