Sci-Con is a family-friendly event hosted by local science fiction fan club groups. This exciting convention includes a 24-hour game room, movie room, prop display, masquerade ball (so wear your best sci-fi costume!) and guest speakers. For a last huzzah before summer comes to a close, check out the inaugural Tampapalooza. Admission is free, but you'll want to bring some cash to spend at the farmers' market and other vendors' stalls, which will be entirely populated by local small business owners. There will also be locally-based, live entertainers such as musicians, stilt walkers, jugglers, magicians and balloon artists. Tampapalooza is all about supporting independent, locally owned businesses. Have some fun and give the local economy a boost while you're at it.
