Best Upcoming Children's Shows In Atlanta
There is no shortage of family-friendly entertainment in Atlanta. If you want to raise a well-rounded child who can fit in socially to any situation, it's important to include an education in the arts along with all of the typical suburban Southern fare. The Roswell Cultural Arts Center is known for its family-friendly programming, and this summer there will be a series of puppetry performances during the day for the little ones. The "Tangle of Tales" performances feature some new twists on classic fairytales. Introduce your kids to "The Frog Prince," "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" and "The Three Little Pigs." You'll be impressed by the quality of the craft, and your kids will love the stories.

The Fox Theatre is Atlanta's version of a grand Broadway house, with its own interesting Moorish accents. Kids of all ages who are fans of the Disney film will enjoy the live performance of "The Little Mermaid." There's nothing more special for a child than getting all dressed up and having an evening out on the town at a beautiful theater. This show is a great way to introduce children to live stage performances.

The Center for Puppetry Arts is a great place to take kids throughout the year, as it always has kid-friendly shows underway. The museum is also an interesting way for children to learn a little about the artistry and hard work that go into creating their favorite programs. You can't go wrong with taking your little ones to see "The Cat in the Hat." It's also located near the Varsity, if you want to complete the kid-friendly afternoon with Atlanta's most famous greasy burger.

Again, it's easy to introduce kids to live theater by taking them to a show where they are already familiar with the underlying story. Serenbe's take on "The Wizard of Oz" is an interesting combination of live performance and puppetry. Your children will be interested in the different possibilities for live theater raised by this production. Serenbe's outdoor setting is lovely and fun for the kids, too.

Oglethorpe University is one of Atlanta's best liberal arts colleges, and Georgia Shakespeare regularly performs at its attractive theater. "The Frog Prince" is a musical adaptation of the popular Brothers Grimm fairytale. This show is appropriate for all ages. It also contains some important lessons about looking beyond initial impressions. This is a great introduction to musicals for younger kids.
