Best Things To Do Labor Day Weekend In The Cleveland Area

Labor Day weekend is the unofficial end of summer. It's a long weekend that is usually filled with family and friends, spending time outside while the weather is still nice. There are a ton of activities to do in Cleveland that weekend, and we picked the top five that seem the most enjoyable. From air shows, beaches and camping, there is something for everyone.

The Cleveland Air Show is a Labor Day tradition in Cleveland. Last year, the air show was cancelled, making it the first time the show wouldn't be in Cleveland Labor Day weekend since 1964. Thankfully, it is back this year and people are excited. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will be flying through the sky, giving spectators a show like no other. There will also be many interactive exhibits and simulators, plus rock walls and bungee jumps. The Cleveland Air Show will take place on August 30, 31 and September 1. General admission tickets are $23 for adults and $16 for kids ages 6-11.

Mohican State Park is made up of 1,110 acres. There are endless activities you can do at Mohican, including fishing, hiking on six different trails, canoeing, biking, swimming and more. You can spend the day at Mohican, or plan to spend the night or the entire weekend. There are numerous options when it comes to staying the night. You can bring a camper, rent a cottage or cabin, stay at the Mohican Lodge or go the traditional way and set up a tent.

This four-day festival takes place at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Labor Day weekend, August 29 through September 1. For adults, there is a wide range of beers and food to try, plus live music every day, all day. You can see the full list of bands that will be performing here. Children's activities include inflatables, hay rides, magic shows, sand castle building, games and more. Admission is $10 for adults and free for children age 12 and under.

Have you ever spent the night in a zoo? On August 29 and August 30, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is hosting Rising Waters Safari Camp. This African-themed overnight camp adventure is a fun and unique way to spend Labor Day weekend. Attendees will visit some of the Zoo's African animals, take part in night hikes, learn about African culture and much more. The fun begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 10 a.m. the following morning. Admission is $38 per person and campers must be at least six years old. Pre-registration is required for this event and can be done online or by calling (216) 635-3391.

There's no better place to spend the last weekend of summer than at the beach. With its mile-long natural sand beach, Headlands is one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Ohio. You can spend the day swimming in Lake Erie and building sand castles on the soft sand. If you work up an appetite, have lunch in the large picnic area or barbecue on one of the complimentary grills. If you want to work up a sweat, Headlands has two hiking trails that run through the park.
