The picturesque grounds of Cylburn Arboretum provide serenity as well as a wealth of information about plants and birds. The 200-acre site features a formal garden and museum. In addition, there are several memorial gardens on the premises. The greenhouses, along with the classroom space, provide a great opportunity to learn about the flora present at the arboretum. There is also an aquaponics focus being sponsored by Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future program. The arboretum has several projects underway and has many opportunities for volunteers. A lovely forest provides the backdrop for the walking trails on the grounds of the arboretum.

Most noted for its permanent exhibits, the Maryland Science Center, located in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, contains interactive and hands-on displays for a variety of science topics. In one area, children can even put on lab coats and enter a world of make-believe as they pretend to be scientists.
