Best Restaurants And Bars Near NYC's Comic-Con
Comic-Con comes to New York City's Javits Center from October 9-12, 2014. Indulge in your inner nerd and enjoy panels, screenings, games and costumes galore. While the Javits Center is in a rather Spartan neighborhood, we've highlighted the go-to restaurants and bars nearby.
City Sandwich
649 9th Ave
New York, NY 10036
(646) 684-3943

A 15-minute walk from the Javits Center, City Sandwich is further than a quick lunch will allow. But budget the time between Comic Con events; the sandwiches are worth the walk to Ninth Avenue. Every sandwich starts with scooped out bread, ensuring an optimal filling-to-bread ratio. Try the Todd ($10.95), which is similar to a BLT with pancetta in place of bacon and a honey Dijon sauce in place of mayo. Or, tuck into the Dave ($10.95). The 'wich features Italian sausage, kale, tomato, pepperoncino and melted mozzarella.
Gotham Market
600 11th Ave
New York, NY 10036
(212) 582-7940

The Gotham West Market food hall is host to all things food, from Blue Bottle coffee to Brooklyn Fare kitchenware. And don't forget the restaurants! Grab tapas at Seamus Mullen's El Colmado, charcuterie at Cannibal or sandwiches from Court Street Grocers. But Ivan Orkin Slurp Shop is Gotham West's can't-miss spot. Famed Ivan Orkin's first US ramen shop, Slurp Shop offers ramen like the Classic Shio. The steaming bowl includes two long-simmered broths, pork belly chashu and chewy rye noodles.
