Time to break out the sparklers, party poppers, and all things stars-and-stripes — the Fourth of July is right around the corner. If you’re looking for something festive to make for your cookout, you’re in luck — we decided to make red, white, and blue the theme of this week’s SWAT (Sharing With A Theme).
We asked The Daily Meal’s Culinary Content Network to share their best red-white-and-blue recipes, and here are the highlights.
American Flag Cookie Pizzas
Kids and grown-ups alike will love these individual dessert pizzas. Kit (blogger at THE Kittchen) uses sugar cookie dough to make the crust for the pizzas, then tops them with a layer of sweetened cream cheese and fresh berries so that they resemble American flags.
No-Bake Cheesecake 'n Berries in a Pretzel Crust
Did someone say pretzel crust? We love this sweet and salty combination that Marjory (The Dinner Mom) came up with. She fills the crispy, salty pretzel cups with a no-bake cheesecake filling and then tops them with ripe, juicy berries.
Fourth of July Tartufo
This week’s winning recipe comes from Chanie (of Busy in Brooklyn) — she created a beautiful and easy-to-make tartufo by layering vanilla ice cream and red sorbet in a loaf pan. How did she add the blue, you ask? Blue maraschino cherries!
All of the recipes featured this week are easy to make at home without spending a lot on ingredients. Interested to see a few of our favorites? Read on.
Red White and Blueberry Popsicles
These delicious ice pops won’t last long, so you had better make a double batch! Made with fresh berries and creamy coconut milk, they’ve got the perfect balance of flavor. Click here for the recipe.
Summer Berry Tart
There are few combinations as delicious as fresh berries and whipped cream. Why not pair them together in a new way by making a festive fruit tart? Just roll and bake your tart shell, fill it with whipped cream, and then top with summer berries. Click here for the recipe.
