The summer's almost over but not until Labor Day weekend sings with all kinds of fun activities experienced during this last weekend leading into fall. From music, film and food festivals to the beginning of the Los Angeles County Fair and more, this fun-loving holiday is about to come calling. Following are five events that will cause your Labor Day weekend to be special.

Jay-Z "curated" this annual event sponsored by Budweiser, held for the first time in downtown's Grand Park overlooking the Music Center. It will feature all kinds of music from all kinds of acts. On the roster are headliners you don't often see on the same stage on the same weekend, including Imagine Dragons, Kanye West and John Mayer, to name a few.

For an authentic foodie experience in the middle of Hollywood, check out The Taste on Labor Day Weekend. And be sure to arrive with an empty stomach because the culinary events on tap will likely having you eating out of their hands in no time. Opening night is not to be missed as this is when the best chefs and bartenders in the City of Angeles come together to offer all kinds of goodies to eat and drink until closing time at 11 p.m. Note: You must be 21 or older to attend.

No other era seems quite so celebratory as that of Art Deco. And the symbol of that era, at least in maritime terms, is The Queen Mary. Put these two themes together and you get a great way to dance into Labor Day weekend in an event that's now in its 10th year. Presented in tandem with the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles, the Queen Mary will be on fire (not literally) with all kinds of activities that allow "a long weekend of total immersion in the 1930s," from art tours to vintage shopping to prohibition tastings and then some.

Classic films brought back to life through careful restoration often bring out the nostalgia in a lot of us. So does Labor Day, so why not combine the two and take in the Cinecon Classical Film Festival, a time for screening the oldies, some of which are silent and therefore serenaded with a live piano accompaniment? This year's offerings are extra special as 2014 marks the 50th time this event has taken place in the middle of Hollywood. Beyond movie watching, other activities–like the chance to purchase prized movie memorabilia from dealers who have been collecting from all over the world–take place on the same dates at the nearby Lowes Hollywood Hotel at Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue.

Nothing says Labor Day weekend more than the opening of the Los Angeles County Fair, an annual event now in its 92nd year. This year's big deal on the first day is the debut of Luminasia, a lantern festival like no other that comes complete with some 100 lighted art pieces that shine onto the fair grounds during all of the activities this diverse showcase has to offer. Also on hand is Grinding Gears, a night club based on the trend of Steam Punk that offers light shows and DJs and a whole lot of celebrating people as soon as the sun goes down at the start of Labor Day weekend.
