Sheryl's School of Dance teaches children ages three and up, as well as adults, and its dance classes range from ballet to hip-hop. The center is known for its tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, pointe, Cecchetti Method and hip-hop classes specifically. Central City Dance is owned by husband/wife team Tim and Tamara Smola, who promise to be a "A leap above the rest" of dance studios. It's received many awards, including being voted one of the top three dance studios in Michigan in 2008 and 2009 (by cityvoter), as well as nominated for Business of the Year in 2011 and 2014. It offers a preschool program for children that are three to four years old, and classes for older children. For fall classes, prices range from $270 for a half-hour to $396 for an hour, and tuition can either be paid in full or in installments. Check out its hip hop, jazz, ballet and other classes offered.

Taylor Dance offers classes for all ages, and some of its students even attend and receive scholarships to well-known summer programs. The program was started in 1966 for the purpose of "bringing quality dance training to the residents of Taylor and neighboring downriver communities," and its first classes were taught in the gym of a Taylor elementary school. Taylor Dance is located at the Taylor Recreational Center, and the season starts in September and ends in May. Classes range from Tiny Tots (ideal for kids ages two to three, 30 minutes, must be accompanied by an adult) to Company Classes for advanced children ages 12 and over.

Deborah's Stage Door has two locations, this one (Rochester Hills) and another in Shelby Township, and has a reputation for preparing children to be professional dancers, although it also offers classes for those who aren't interested in dancing professionally. Classes are labeled either beginner or advanced, and you can choose from hip hop, ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical, modern, rhythm tap and gymnastics. If your child is younger, pre-school rhythm and pre-school gymnastics classes are offered, as well as ballet/tumbling and tap/tumbling. There is an annual recital in June and a Christmas Spectacular in December, and both are open to all dancers.

Metro Dance Company offers classes for both children and adults, and for all skill levels. Dance, voice and piano lessons are taught here, and "combo classes" are available for children ages 2.5 to five, which include an intro to dance (combines ballet, tap, jazz and more). Class sizes are usually no bigger than 10 to 16 students, depending on the class type, and regular group dance classes are $52 per month (for one class per week, for 10 months). A dance recital is held in June each year for all students.
