Bently Scottsdale Polo Championships Brings More Fun With Canine Couture & Food Championships
This weekend is getting kicked off with the Bently Scottsdale Polo Championships, an event that is apparently trying to rebrand the sport. By adding a car show preview, World Food Championships, and a canine couture fashion show (that's right, desperate-looking poodles in blouses), the polo event is hoping that a new crowd of fresh faces will be pulled in. They're expecting around 15,000 guests over the course of the two-day championship, which is an increase over last year's 12,400, says AZ Central.
Gates open at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the Larsen LIVE Art Auction and the World Food Championships. Then check out the World's "Longest" Fashion Show, followed by the first match—Gay Polo League vs. Arizona Polo Club. The doggy fashion show is next, with another match at 3:15 p.m., Molina Women's World All Star Team (which was the top-ranked women's team in the world in 2014) vs. Bently Scottsdale Clogau Wales Polo Team (the defending champions). Saturday wraps things up with an after party at the Heineken Pavilion.
Sunday is heavier on the polo, with the Polo Skills Challenge (where top players compete for distance, accuracy, and finesse) at 11:30 a.m., the USPA Governor's Cup Match soon after, the Barrett-Jackson All-Star Team vs. Omni Scottsdale at Montelucia All-Star Team match, and finally the Sunset Polo Match with the Arizona Polo Club at 4:15 p.m. Again, the day is finished with another after party where everyone can unwind and compare experiences.
There are tons of different ticket options, from tailgating passes to single event tickets, but you should attend the event the right way and either get the All-Access Pass for $500 or the Sky Box for $10,000—both give you admittance to both days and a slew of perks.
