"Beer Gut Bandit" Loose In San Diego

Tuesday, July 23^rd, the FBI released photos of what many are referring to as the "Beer Gut Bandit," U-T San Diego is reporting.

They are calling for the public to assist them in finding the man who is suspected of robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in La Mesa on July 5^th, a U.S. Bank in El Cajon in July 16^th, a Bank of America in San Diego on July 17^th, and a Wells Fargo in El Cajon on Saturday, July 20^th.

According to CBS 8, the FBI said the man claimed to be armed with a concealed bomb, notifying bank employees of this by writing it on demand notes.

The "Beer Gut Bandit" has been described as white, middle aged, about 5'7”, with a goatee, and most notably, a beer gut.

Locals with information are encouraged to call the FBI at (858) 320-1800, or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 540-8477. Tipsters may be able to receive a reward of $1,000.
