- Colin wrote for the culinary publication Lowcountry Cuisine prior to joining Mashed in 2021, spotlighting local restaurants and restaurateurs in and around his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina.
- He has written articles on nationally-recognized, award-winning restaurants including Page's Okra Grill, which was featured on the Travel Channel's "Food Paradise," where it was ranked the #2 Southern Comfort Food Restaurant in the U.S.
- The North Carolina Press Association granted Colin an award for feature article of the year as a result of an article he wrote on a married couple who traveled around the world in a 32-foot sailboat.
Experience
Colin cut his teeth in journalism, working as a general assignment reporter in Franklin, North Carolina, for seven years covering county government, writing features, and writing a humor column on News of the Weird. In 2013, he further broadened his communications skill set, working for five years as a PR/marketing coordinator for a nonprofit, where he wrote press releases, pitched articles, edited a monthly email newsletter, and managed multiple social media pages. In 2018, Colin transitioned into freelance writing; he has written feature and news articles for a number of publications, including History Magazine, Charleston Magazine, Charleston Style and Design, Mount Pleasant Magazine, HealthLinks Magazine, and SiP Magazine.
Education
Colin has an undergraduate degree in Literature. He also has a graduate degree in Mass Communication, through which he received training in professional news, feature, and magazine writing.
