Atlanta's Final Four Festivities: Sushi Showdown

Billed as "The Sushi-Showdown" and organized in true college basketball championship fashion (bracket style), 24 contestants will face off against the clock to devour as many Tootsy Makis (kani kama crab mix, shrimp, and cucumber rolled and topped with crunchy tempura bits) as possible in five minutes at RA Sushi Bar Restaurant in Atlanta. The first round will cut the competitor number in half, to a final round of just six fierce contenders set to take the title. The grand prize eater will take home $600 in sushi certificates, while second place receives $100, third place takes $50, and fourth will leave with $25.

Located in the pedestrian-friendly Midtown section of Atlanta, RA Sushi will partner with Red Bull for the third annual event this Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

To quench the appetites of onlookers, RA Sushi is offering a special Tokyo Tussle Roll (with cucumber and shrimp wrapped in rice and seaweed, topped with spicy shrimp) and the Throwdown Roll (cucumber and spicy tuna wrapped in rice and seaweed, and topped with red tempura bits).

The After-Party: All-You-Can-Eat Sushi

If you're still hanging around town after the championship game, you can tone it down (or ramp it up) at ROOM, with $15 bottomless sushi on Tuesday, April 9. Spicy tuna rolls, spicy salmon rolls, and California rolls are all-you-can-eat from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

Signature dishes at this local hot spot also include succulent and always seared to perfection 16-ounce KC strip steak, the wedge salad (bacon, blue cheese crumbles, pickled jalapeños, red onion, tomato, and blue cheese dressing), and the sushi, of course.
