CBS: What do you feel is the best piece of advice you would give a home enthusiast?
Florentina Duran: The best piece of advice for a home enthusiast would be: don't be scared to step outside the box. Some of the best cocktails I've ever made were from ingredients I never thought would go together.
CBS: In your opinion, what are the most important elements when creating a recipe from scratch?
FD: It's important to start with a base spirit and start adding flavors from there. Know that if it is too tart, you'll want to add something sweet; if too sweet, add something that's tart or bitter.
CBS: What are your favorite mixers with vodka for the summer?
FD: My favorite mixers for vodka for the summer are elderflower liquor and iced tea.
CBS: When at home, what do you like to drink?
FD: When I'm at home, I drink beer and whiskey, preferably Jameson.
