Animal Care & Control Of NYC Hosts `Pit Bowl' Party To Promote Pit Bull Adoption
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) Animal Care & Control of NYC is trying to change the image of the pit bull, and they're inviting New Yorkers to a 'Pit Bowl' bowling party to learn more.
It takes place at Lucky Strike Lanes on West 42nd street on Tuesday, August 5th from 7-10 p.m. and is designed to support AC&C's efforts to find loving homes for pit bulls and pit mixes.

"They're big and they look very strong, but they are so sweet, and many are docile and make great family pets", AC&C Executive Director Risa Weinstock told 1010 WINS. "We want to get New Yorkers comfortable with the fact that there's no one type of pit bull. That's just a name. It's not a breed, and there are many different shapes and sizes and they are terrific, terrific companion animals."

AC&C takes in approximately 30,000 animals each year, including thousands of pit bulls and pit mixes. Proceeds from Pit Bowl go to AC&C's Animal Care Fund, supporting the direct care of lost, mistreated, or neglected animals.
Tickets for bowlers are sold out, but you can still purchase a ticket to cheer on the bowling teams, and enjoy lite appetizers, raffle prizes, music, pool and ping-pong in the Luxe Lounge. Drinks are cash bar only. AC&C will have adoptable pit bulls on hand with professional photographer Jamie McCarthy there to snap your photo with one of the four-legged guests of honor.
