Ad Sales Internship
Position Overview:
Assisting the Advertising Sales Team at Food Network Magazine, the Intern will learn advertising sales, marketing, and business skills. The Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience at a cutting-edge magazine that offers advertisers a true 360 opportunity.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to earn academic credit for participation in Food Network Magazine's internship program
- Hard-working and eager to learn
- Interest in advertising sales, marketing, and/or business
- Commitment for the entire semester/summer – exact days/hours TBD upon hire •Strong attention to detail with ability to prioritize and multitask
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Responsibilities and Opportunities
- Assist sales team in creating monthly mailers, planning client entertainment events, and developing strategic sales tools to market Food Network Magazine
- Attend client calls with the Sales Development Director and Account Directors to see first-hand how the magazine is sold to potential and current advertisers •Participate in internal brainstorming for client-specific opportunities
- Join weekly sales and marketing meetings
- Help execute client entertainment events and brainstorm new opportunities •Perform monthly competitive analysis and share of market tracking against Food Network Magazine's competitive set
- Learn the overall sales process and assist with RFPs (Request for Proposals)
- Help sales assistants with daily responsibilities:
- Maintaining and updating media kits
- Updating contact databases
- Mailings and UPS deliveries
- Fulfilling various client requests
- Making client reservations
- Completing general office tasks – data entry, filing, photocopying, and mail distribution
