Abu Dhabi Pop-Up Takes Over Times Square
The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority kicks off its campaign to entice travelers to visit the emirate with an Abu Dhabi pop-up takeover of Times Square May 17 to 19.
"Traveller's Welcome — A Taste of Abu Dhabi's Hospitality" is a free, interactive pop-up in Times Square's Father Duffy Square that's open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors can get a glimpse of true Abu Dhabi offerings by lounging in a traditional majlis in Times Square while sampling dates and coffee. Passersby can get also temporary henna tattoos, try on traditional clothing, have their pictures taken, and interact with a live falcon. Perfume mixologists will create personal scents for each visitor to take home.
During the three-day Abu Dhabi pop-up, visitors can also watch video of the soon-to-open Louvre Abu Dhabi and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, plus get a glimpse of Masdar City, the world's first carbon-neutral, zero-emissions city.
Etihad Airways is offering giveaways and Abu Dhabi has partnered with tour operators Abercrombie & Kent, Cox & Kings, Linara Travel, Ritz Tours, and Goway Travel to introduce travel packages to the emirate.
