8 Burger Recipes for Your Cookout
Memorial weekend means it’s time to kick-start summer with outdoor grilling, barbecues, and picnics. To start the summer grilling season off right, it’s time to start flipping burgers. We’re not talking about Burger King or McDonald’s burgers, but rather homemade burger recipes that are juicy and flavorful. With just a few ingredients like herbs and spices, you can vamp up any ground meat like chicken, turkey, or beef. There are also plenty of vegetarian burgers like bean burgers that are equally as delicious. Whatever burger patty you have, it’s best golden brown with a bit of a grilled char.
With so many recipes for burgers, we decided it would be the ideal theme for this week’s SWAT (Sharing With A Theme). We put the Culinary Content Network and our staff to the test to come up with burger recipes and here are some of the highlights:
- Diane from Vindulge Blog shared with us her recipe for a turkey burger with bacon paste. She says that “when it comes to pairing wine with burgers, the options are equally endless.” Diane recommends pairing this burger with a light Rosé.
- PJ Binns from Recipes I Live By shared with us his recipe for a pizza burger. Who said pizza can't be a burger? Layer on tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese for a pizza-like burger.
- The winner this week is Christine Ma from Cherry on My Sundae. Her recipe for a French onion burger takes all the flavors of a classic French onion soup and layers them on a grilled burger patty with crispy fried onions.
All of the recipes featured can be made at home for about $20 or less, excluding the cost of small amounts of basic ingredients such as butter, oil, flour, sugar, salt, pepper, and other dried herbs and spices.

Turn a taco into a burger with this easy recipe. Taco seasoning adds flavor to the beef patty and cripsy tortilla strips are added for some crunch.
