Pyrex's Return Policy: What Shoppers Should Know Before They Buy

Chipped Pyrex dishes aren't worth buying at thrift stores because they can shatter. However, rare vintage Pyrex pieces, like chip and dip sets, are still worth investing in as long as they are in good condition and free from scratches. However, if you aren't a fan of thrifting and prefer to buy new, you can order Pyrex directly online. While this option costs more, you can easily make a return if you no longer want the piece or simply don't like it when it arrives. Just be aware of the ins and outs of the returns policy to make sure you don't come unstuck later.

The Pyrex website states that if you return your item within 90 days of purchasing it, "A full refund minus the original shipping and handling charges and the $8 cost of the prepaid return will be issued." There's a link on the return policy page that directs customers to a form that will generate a UPS return label that can be emailed or printed. However, the returned items have to be unused and still in the original packaging. To speed up processing times, it's recommended that you also include the packing list that came with your order and a copy of the order confirmation. Pyrex has up to 30 days for the return to be processed from the date your item was shipped back, so your refund won't be immediate. If you've purchased your Pyrex items via a third party retailer, you will need to follow that specific store's return policy.

Returns for Pyrex products that arrive damaged

The return process for Pyrex items that have arrived damaged is slightly different than the policy for those pieces that are simply unwanted. In this case, customers are advised to keep the product and the packaging and contact the Consumer Care Center via the 'Contact Us' page. Presumably, the Care Center will handle the refund from there, so customers don't have to shell out for a return on a product that, through no fault of their own, has arrived damaged.

Meanwhile, according to the website's FAQ's page, the brand "promises to replace any Pyrex glass product that breaks from oven heat, and any Pyrex non-glass accessory item with a manufacturing defect, within TWO YEARS from the date of purchase," as long as customers have followed the "Safety and Usage Instructions provided with the product." For instance, customers shouldn't add liquid to hot glassware, place it on a direct heat source (like a grill or camping stove), or put it into an oven that hasn't been preheated first. If you've used your Pyrex pieces safely and they have still broken, the catch is that you must keep the product in case you are asked to return it. You may need to send it back to qualify for your refund, so don't be tempted to discard it.
