Houston is a hotbed for the arts. The city's famed Theater District in downtown is one of the best in the nation and includes permanent professional residence companies in all of the major performing arts. "Flying High" kicks off the Houston 2014 fall theater schedule with a production about the world of flight. From the fluttering wings of bees to the large and powerful wings of mythological creatures, "Flying High" takes to the skies and features the vocal talents of Celine Ricci and the musical artistry of Maria Lin, Yung Hsiang Wang and Adam LaMotte. "Flying High" is a high-flying adventure with excellent singing and music that sets the imagination soaring. It's a great production to start the Houston 2014 fall theater schedule.

With its large cast and fast-paced action, "Bring it On" is a musical production that will keep guests entertained from start to finish. This musical is all about the world of competitive cheerleading and the things some people will do to win, even if it means losing something important. "Bring it On" combines the talents of Tony award-winning and Pulitzer Prize-winning directors and composers to create a comedy musical that will have you jumping out of your seat and cheering for victory. The amazing choreography and explosive action make "Bring it On" one of the season's best productions.

"Lunada" is a celebration of Latin American culture and music and it's coming to Miller Outdoor Theater this fall. "Lunada," or Night of the Full Moon, is an evening when communities in Latin America come together to share stories, recite poems and play music. The rendition at the Miller Outdoor Theater will feature the Houston Symphony Orchestra and students from Houston-area schools who will perform musical numbers with a Latin bent. It's a great way for families to attend a show together and gain cultural enrichment at Houston's premier outdoor performance facility.

Who could ever forget Frances "Baby" Houseman and her unforgettable romance with dance instructor Johnny Castle in the classic 1987 movie "Dirty Dancing?" It's a movie for the ages and it is brought to life on stage in Sarofim Hall in the Hobby Center this November for a six-day production. The dance performances are central to the "Dirty Dancing" movie and guests will get more than their fill of dancing from some of the Houston area's most talented performers. Classic songs such as "Hungry Eyes" and "I've Had the Time of My Life" will bring back fond memories for the movie's legions of fans. Admirers of Charles Dickens will enjoy the lively stage performances by the Houston area's top talent and the transformation of Scrooge from a fidgety, grumpy old man with a frigid heart to a man of abundant goodwill and cheer.
