2014 Cleveland Fall Theater Preview
The city of Cleveland has an amazing theater district, and this fall there will be several shows that you won't want to miss. If you don't want to go downtown, many of the suburbs also have outstanding community theatre groups that will put on an enjoyable show. Here are some of the must-see theater shows for this coming fall.
"Les Misérables"

Date: Oct. 3 – Nov. 9, 2014
An unforgettable musical, "Les Misérables" has won over 100 international awards throughout the years. The musical is based on the 1862 novel by Victor Hugo and is directed by Victoria Bussert. Ticket prices range from $15 to $70 per ticket and the play runs for two hours and 45 minutes, including an intermission. Don't miss this iconic musical that has been seen by over 65 million people worldwide. All performances take place in the newly renovated Hanna Theatre in downtown Cleveland's impressive theater district. "The Boy Friend"

"The Boy Friend" premiers at Cassidy Theatre on October 10 and runs through October 26 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. "The Boy Friend" will fill the stage with song and dance, and is a spirited parody of the musicals from the 1920s. Directed by Eric Fancher and Jordan Cooper, "The Boy Friend" is based off of the book by Sandy Wilson. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.
"The Price"

This year marks the 85th season for the River Street Playhouse. Beginning on October 17, "The Price," directed by Cindee Catalano, will be making audiences happy with a number of performances. It is based off of Arthur Miller's play about brothers Vic and Walter who reunite after many years apart to handle their deceased father's estate. The play originally debuted on Broadway in February of 1968. Tickets are $12 for students and adults.
"Forever Plaid"

Date: Sept. 12 – Oct. 12, 2014
Beck Center for the Arts is a non-profit performing arts organization in Lakewood. This fall, "Forever Plaid" will be on the main stage. This 90-minute play, directed and choreographed by Martín Céspedes, focuses on four young singers who are killed on the way to their first big concert. The guys are miraculously revived from the afterlife for a chance to fulfill their dreams and perform at the show that was never able to take place. Ticket prices range from $10 to $29 and showtimes are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays.
"Motown the Musical"

Part of the KeyBank Broadway Series, "Motown the Musical" will be at the State Theatre this fall. The State Theatre was the first and largest of the Playhouse Square theaters to be constructed. It opened its doors to the public on February 5, 1921. "Motown the Musical" is the true story of Motown founder Berry Gordy. The show runs for two hours and 50 minutes and ticket prices range from $10 to $95. Showtimes vary by date, so check the website for a full schedule.
