Pringles Gives A Glimpse Of Meghan Trainor As The Star Of Its 2023 Super Bowl Ad

The 2023 Super Bowl is right around the corner, and major corporations have been working all year to prepare the ads that will impress viewers the most. While the big game is important, even those who don't have a vested interest in football are usually intrigued by the high-priced ads that grace the screen in between plays.

Super Bowl ads are more expensive than any other commercial slot; GoBankingRates says that just 30 seconds on screen will run a company a whopping $7 million in 2023. With that said, these brands have little time to capture viewers' attention, so they often choose to film with high-profile celebrities to boost interest levels.

To create buzz for its Super Bowl commercial, Pringles recently released a sneak peek at what fans can expect for its time slot. Though it's unclear if the brand will take up 30 or 60 seconds, we know that Meghan Trainor will be the star of its show.

Popular for decades, Pringles is known for its flavor-blasted chips served in an iconic cylindrical tube that sets it apart from other chip brands. The chips only fit into the tube in a certain direction, and everyone knows the slight difficulty of trying to get that last chip from the bottom of the container — especially singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor.

The company posted a 2023 Super Bowl ad preview to YouTube, where it shows Trainor, who is known for hits like "All About That Bass" and "Made You Look," filming herself while enjoying a container of Pringles. When Trainor goes for what appears to be the last chip, she runs into a problem we know all too well — her hand gets stuck in the container. The commercial ends with Trainor shaking the container to no avail and then uttering an, "Uh, oh," as we're left waiting for Super Bowl Sunday to learn what happens next.

Pringles is known for its Super Bowl ads

Meghan Trainor's crisis of getting her hand stuck in a Pringles container isn't the first time the company has played up its container shape in an ad. In its 2022 ad, Pringles featured a regular guy who happened to get his hand stuck in the container at a party and proceeded to share his whole life story with the Pringles container never coming off. Back in its 2021 ad, though, Pringles took a different route by highlighting all the ways to "stack" different Pringles flavors for the ultimate combination. It featured a similar concept in 2018.

For the past several years, Pringles has taken a break from featuring celebrities in its ads; rather, it opted for telling short stories without the celebrity hook. The last time the brand featured a celebrity was back in its 2018 ad with Bill Hader as the star. Pringles fans (and Meghan Trainor fans) will have to tune in to the Super Bowl on February 12 to learn Trainor's fate with the Pringles can.
