Among the many wonders of a new year, there is the simple and unmistakable joy of ordering Girl Scout cookies. Delish claims that the "season" for these sought-after cookies lies between January and April every year. That's when you can expect to start seeing young Girl Scouts selling cookies and taking orders outside of grocery stores, shopping malls, and plenty of other locations. The sheer anticipation of waiting for that order to come in is enough to make any grown adult feel like a kid waiting on their birthday.

Vox adds that this perceived scarcity is even a huge part of the Girl Scout cookies' charm. The idea that you can only get your hands on these delicious treats once a year makes every bite worth savoring. There are plenty of ways to get your fix year round though. One way is to make your own Thin Mints at home, but there are other options as well.

Simplemost points out that you can actually order your favorite Girl Scout cookies all year long. Like any beloved brand, the Girl Scouts also aren't opposed to doing collaborations, and one of the best out there is available to anyone with a Costco membership.

Girl Scout Thin Mints pretzels are available at Costco

For those who can't get enough Girl Scout cookies all year long, and need a way to scratch that itch, Costco is here for you. In fact, when taking a look across the internet, it's pretty clear that more than a few people are pleased with Costco's Girl Scout offerings. For example, Kitchn reported that one of its favorite Costco finds of the year was the Girl Scout Thin Mints Pretzels.

Notably, SheKnows says that the wholesale retailer has had Thin Mints Almonds around for a long time, but these pretzels are a more recent addition. They might not scratch the precise same itch for fans of Girl Scout Samoas Cookies or Do-si-Dos (aka peanut butter sandwiches), but Thin Mints lovers are definitely going to be happy. These chocolate-covered pretzels capture the same cool mint, and rich chocolate flavors that Thin Mints lovers crave, but add a salty crunch as well with the underlying pretzel.

They come in a 26-ounce bag and currently sell for $9.29 at the membership warehouse. Those without a Costco card will also be excited to learn that you can also grab a bag through Amazon. This doesn't come with that Costco discount though, and it will cost you $19.50 instead.

The most popular Girl Scout cookie

It makes sense that Thin Mints would be chosen as the ideal flavor for collaboration considering they're one of the most popular products Girl Scouts sell. Food Network claims that Thin Mints are one of the most popular Google searches every year when Girl Scout cookie season rolls around. Interestingly, Girl Scouts have been selling cookies for more than a century, but Thin Mints haven't always been a part of it.

The organization's cookie sales began in 1917 as a way for troops to raise funds. The cookies were originally home-baked by the scouts, but as sales increased, and demand rose along with it, the offerings became more consistent. According to Time Magazine, the first iteration of Girl Scout Thin Mints became available in 1939, albeit with a slightly different name. Back then, these delicious treats were called Cooky-Mints.

Of course, while the chocolate and mint cookies are the most iconic product of the brand, they are only one type of the many cookies dreamed up by the bakeries that were contracted through the Girl Scouts. Of course, this is but one small piece of the reason why Girl Scout cookies have so many different names.
