Which Airline Is The Best?

With all the miles I've flown in the past few years, I've been fortunate not to have any terrible airline experiences. Most of my grievances have to do with fellow passengers rather than rude staff or lost luggage.

Cheer or jeer, travelers usually have plenty of things to say when the subject of airlines comes up. I've flown a variety of airlines, and I have my favorites, as well as those that I avoid at all cost. I can't stand being nickel and dimed {Hello, Spirit and easyJet}. I get frustrated when carriers change the rules just as I've figured them out {American-US Airways merger, anyone?}. I get downright irate when my preferred carrier makes it more difficult to obtain status {I'm looking at you, United.}. Certainly not all carriers are created equal, and I've yet to find one that's perfect.

Now with social media, it's easier than ever to sound off with praise or grievances. I've had questions answered by Royal Jordanian on Twitter quicker than it would take to get to a representative on the phone. United regularly tweets me back and comments on my Facebook page. No matter if complaining or complimenting, it's nice to know I'm being heard.

Each year there are lists released ranking the "best" airlines, but what are these based on? Who is doing the ranking? Are they actual customers? In order for airlines to improve, I think it's important for them to get feedback from their customers, both positive and negative, and that's exactly what the Passenger Choice Awards are all about.

The Passenger Choice Awards {PCAs} recognize the best in the airline industry. Created by the Airline Passenger Experience Association {APEX} in order to give a voice to customers, the awards aren't just about the flight experience, but also the ticket buying process, check in, airport lounge, and baggage claim. Dedicated to improving passenger experiences from around the world, APEX is a network of the world's leading airlines, suppliers, and related companies.

Similar to the MTV Viewer's Choice Awards or the People's Choice Awards, here's the chance to have your voice heard by the airlines. A short survey will determine the winners of the PCAs. Results will be announced during a gala at the APEX and International Flight Services Association (IFSA) EXPO in September in Anaheim, California.

To take the survey, click here. You have until June 30 to vote.

I'm curious, who do you think is the best and worst overall airline? Why? Let me know in the comments.

I was compensated for this post, but it obviously didn't buy my opinion. I took the survey and genuinely hope the airlines take note of the results and improve for all passengers.
