When the macaron (not to be confused with macaroon) craze hit the States — with a big push from Gossip Girl — the gorgeous sandwich cookies found their way into every trendy party and onto everyone's inspiration boards. From Pinterest and Tumblr came endless ideas of how to showcase the French treats and weddings, high-profile events, and parties were created around the color scheme of a box of Ladurée macarons.
