Wendy's Begins Rolling Out Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger

The 680-calorie, 1,100 mg sodium-packed burger (according to Dallas News) is part of a slew of menu items by Wendy's designed to hook customers in, like their Dave's Hot 'N Juicy and the unsuccessful W Burger.

The Pretzel Bacon Burger includes a thick burger, cheddar cheese sauce, thick-cut bacon, lettuce, tomato, honey mustard, and red onion, all on a pretzel bun. Wendy's marketing officer Craig Bahner told USA Today "This is the most anticipated new product in recent history," but Janney Montgomery Scott analyst Mark Kalinowski reported that executives of Wendy's said that response to the pretzel burger was just as positive as any other new product from Wendy's in the past two decades, according to the Huffington Post.

The burger isn't just about taste, however. CBS News reports that the new menu item is an attempt to convince people that Wendy's has higher standards due to an emphasis on high-quality, artisan-style breads. Wendy's CEO Emil Brolick as well as other executives have commented that small adjustments like the type of bread used can have a huge impact on how consumers see Wendy's, possibly viewing it as healthier and of higher quality, according to CBS News.

The burger can be found in locations nationally by mid July, so don't waste your time buying a burger and a pretzel; this one hits two delicious birds with one stone.
