Trotter's To Go Mysteriously Closes
When Charlie Trotter announced his departure from the food scene into academia, he hinted that while Charlie Trotter's would close, his smaller takeout operation Trotter's To Go would stay open. Whew!
Well, it seems that decision changed. Time Out Chicago reports that the smaller takeout spot in Chicago closed over the weekend, with Trotter surprising the staff by announcing that he was closing the shop immediately. "As I type this, the staff of TTG is clearing out the store and moving equipment to the restaurant space," David Tamarkin wrote, noting that the staff had no prior knowledge of the closing.
None of the staff would go on record, while Trotter's representatives have not answered requests for comment. In the meantime, the To Go website is down, and Charlie Trotter's restaurant website is counting down the days to the 25th anniversary on Aug. 17. Looks like Chicago will have to go Trotter-less for a while, as Charlie Trotter's last dinner service will take place Aug. 31.
