When you’re craving great fish, the seafood lunch or dinner doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated
Snappers Key Largo
Have a pet turtle? Put it on a leash and head over to the restaurant’s Turtle Club where the reptiles are welcome. As you can tell, Snappers Key Largo, located along mile marker 94.5, is a lot of fun.
This restaurant, which has a tiki bar, fuses seafood, Caribbean style and Florida feel into a memorable experience. This seafood shack serves Florida lobster tail every day as well as favorites like yellowtail snapper and stone crab claws when they’re in season. Also on the menu: cracked conch, gator bites, seafood enchiladas as well as homemade conch chowder.
Snappers will even cook your catch of the day! Just bring in the fish you caught, (cleaned and ready to cook) and the restaurant will prepare it just the way you want it.
Islamorada Shrimp Shack
Make sure you’re hungry when you go to the Islamorada Shrimp Shack! The extensive menu includes a wide range of seafood like cracked conch, ahi tuna, shrimp fritters, shrimp and grits, po’boy sandwiches and shrimp jambalaya.
Save room for dessert! Finish your meal with the restaurant’s banana bread sundae or the traditional key lime pie.
The Island Grill
Yelp / Marta V
The Island Grill, which has two locations: one in Islamorada (mile marker 85.5) and another in Key Largo (mile marker 7.5.), has an extensive seafood menu. Consider scallops, steamed clams and conch chowder. Then there are lobster rolls, peel-n-eat shrimp and lobster mac-n-cheese.
The signature dish is the original tuna nachos featuring Ahi grade tuna on a bed of sesame seaweed salad over crisp wontons, topped with wasabi drizzle, sesame seeds, sweet soy, sriracha and scallions.
Ma’s Fish Camp
Yelp / Paul M
Ma's Fish Camp is at marker 81.5 in Islamorada. This “locals” restaurant is popular with visitors too. Known for its quality seafood, the restaurant serves up favorites like hogfish, gumbo and shrimp-n-grits.
Also on the menu: conch fritters, coconut shrimp, fish tacos and Bahamian conch chowder. Save room for sweets like strawberry shortcake, coconut cake and deep dish key lime pie.
Order a beer and relax at Keys Fisheries. This shack, located in Marathon, prides itself on a casual environment with crazy-good, fresh seafood. Must order items include conch fritters and lobster Rueben. More menu yum: crab and spinach dip, coconut shrimp, stone crab soup (available October 15 through May 15), key fish tacos featuring mahi mahi and fresh catches like yellowtail snapper and hog fish.
Stick around for dessert too! Keys Fisheries has a sweet tooth for homemade key lime pie, raspberry key lime pie and rum cake.
King Seafood Market and Restaurant
Locals and visitors love King Seafood Restaurant for variety and its reasonable prices. The restaurant gets busy but service is quick. Order at the counter and they’ll bring your food to the table.
This shack in Marathon has lots of your fresh fish faves like lobster tail, as well as Cuban cuisine including pan con bistec, Cuban sandwiches, sweet plantains and yucca fries.
Indulge in dessert like flan, complemented with Cuban coffees such as café Cubano espresso, café con leche and cortadito.
The Island Fish Company
Yelp / Rob M
Located at mile marker 54 in Marathon, Island Fish Company features the longest tiki bar in the Florida Keys. Have a cocktail, take in the views and order some fresh seafood!
The raw bar has oysters, clams on the half shell, peel and eat shrimp, as well as stone crab claws. Order starters like lobster egg rolls, conch ceviche or buffalo shrimp. Then settle in for the main course: sandwiches, wraps, fish platters (think oysters, friend dolphin and grouper), as well as steaks. In a hurry? Order from the to-go menu and savor this seafood during your drive.

Bo’s Fish Wagon
Yelp / Canvas B
B.O.'s Fish Wagon is not a presumptuous place at all. Instead this Key West eatery is a humble “open-air” shack that’s committed to serving “fresh food with zero fuss.” The dish to get? The cracked conch sandwich, featuring strips of fried conch and Key Lime mayo in fresh Cuban bread. Other fish dishes include grilled or fried grouper, fried soft shell crab and fried or grilled Key West pink shrimp.
