The Duniway Portland Is A Serene Modern Hotel Stay
Nestled in the central heart of Oregon's largest city, The Duniway Portland transforms a traditional hotel stay into a desirable experience. The hotel offers a serene yet lively space with access directly to all that the city has to offer.
This hotel has "Welcome!" written all over it. As you enter through the large revolving glass doors, you exit a world of street sounds and enter an atmosphere of positive vibes. The social lobby welcomes with the small chatter of businesspeople and the staff's wide smiles at check-in. Eloquent stained glass designed in green floral images separates the entrance from the lobby, which is separated by a full-service bar that leads to one of Portland's most renowned restaurants, Jackrabbit.
The Duniway is a place for designers, architects, writers and more to come and be inspired. The most spectacular features are located on the 11th floor, where you will want to spend most of your free time. It is home to the indoor pool, the fitness center, and best of all, Abigail's Hideaway — a rooftop oasis. The 11th floor provides a place for mindfulness, to replenish and refresh either alone with a detoxing run and swim or for a game of life-size Jenga with friends. Upon arriving at Abigail's Hideaway, I fell in love with the Pottery Barn-style décor.
Once your appetite sets in, head to the spectacular restaurant Jackrabbit. Chef Chris Cosentino pulls together the most divine dishes including an extensive raw bar. You will never leave hungry with a charcuterie program and convivial "Shared Suppers" including a dry-aged bone-in tenderloin with roasted mushrooms and sauce au poivre and a whole fried hot chicken with chicken Scotch eggs and pickled vegetables.
After a long day of traveling, the best feature of the hotel is the room. The second the door opens, a tranquil sense of peace fills the air with the fresh aroma of clean linen. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day of travel, work, or play! The walls have little décor and are simple in a light grey that reflects bright light from a large open window looking out to the city. Each room has plenty of space with a sofa that bends to provide adequate room for a comfortable desk topped with a sweet vintage radio clock. Peek behind the bathroom door and you will find a luxury robe that screams "wear me" with its silky grey exterior and warm cloth inside that wraps perfectly around your body. The small amenities are worth appreciating — including the fast-drying turbo blow dryer (that doesn't eat your hair) and the truffles brought each evening by the hotel staff.
Now the best part: It's always Rosé All Day at the Duniway! My hotel room was also plentifully stocked with cans of local Underwood Rosé, fabulous pink shades, and a copy of Rosé All Day by Katherine Cole. Adjacent to all the pink is a delightful selection of teas and Victoria coffee to get the day started. The Duniway sure knows how to pamper their guests! If you want to take the Rosé All Day theme even further, The Duniway offers a "Wine Beyond the Vine" package, which I highly recommend indulging in.
Portland has so much to offer, and The Duniway Hotel is just one of its gems. It provides travelers and locals an atmosphere to complete work, but also a place to relax. Just outside the hotel doors are many nearby squares filled with food trucks, fountains, and local entertainers, along with the SW Montgomery Green Street, which makes you feel like you have stepped out of the city and into an elaborate walkway of oversized trees and flowers. If you're willing to do a little trek (or taxi), you'll also find Washington Park, the Rose Gardens and Japanese Gardens, and the Oregon Zoo nearby to discover. After a day of exploring, there is nothing better than ending the day with a divine dinner at Jackrabbit, followed by that snuggly robe in your serene room. The Duniway is a small retreat in the heart of the PDX.
Travel and accomodations were provided by The Duniway Portland. All opinions are my own.
