Move over, beer lovers -- Oktoberfest is over, and it’s time for wine aficionados to take center stage. Hong Kong is once again hosting Wine & Dine Month, allowing participants to spend the entire month of November indulging in a variety of epicurean delights.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board isn’t pulling any punches with this set list. They’ve lined up an incredible array of celebrations, meals, master classes, and, of course, wine tastings. With so many things on the menu, how’s a food lover to choose? Clear your calendar, folks -- our list of can’t-miss Wine & Dine Month events is going to take up some serious space.
CCB (Asia) Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival (October 22-25)
Jump the gun for November and head to the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival by Central Piers 9 and 10. This four-day bonanza offers over 300 booths featuring wine experts, master chefs, industry stars, premier restaurants, and live music. Taste your way through the Gourmet Trails restaurant area, or head over to the Discovery Zone for craft beer and whisky flights. Celebrating something special? The Cheering Zone consists of exclusively sparkling wine and Champagne. We’ll cheers to that.
Cooking with Ken Hom (October 26)
While not strictly part of Wine & Dine Month festivities, the Hong Kong International Literary Festival is hosting a one-night only event with renowned chef Ken Hom. Spend a pleasant evening enjoying world-class food and wine while listening to Hom discuss his career path. And yes -- there will be a book signing.
Stanley Plaza World of Food and Music 2015 (November 1, 8, and 15)
The Stanley Plaza World of Food and Music truly offers up a world of experiences. Head out to Stanley for a weekend of themed parties, gourmet food, fun games, and amazing performances. This year’s theme is a “Fruit Punch Challenge,” combining fruits and sports to promote a healthy lifestyle. Wander through the Juicy Fruit Bar to refuel after an intense game of bubble soccer, and head to the photobooth with fruit-printed bubble soccer balls to capture the moment forever.
Dim Sum Making Class (November 3, 5, 19, and 24)
Sign up for a class at Easy123 Dining & Cooking Studio to learn to make dim sum. Become an expert in the arts of squid-shaped spring rolls, penguin dumplings, and shrimp dumplings. Register for this special opportunity in advance on their website.
Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair (November 5-7)
This year’s International Wine & Spirits Fair features Portugal as the partner country, along with country pavilions from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Germany, South Africa, Spain, and more. Grand tastings, master classes, cocktail demonstrations, and seminars are all on the list, as well as the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition.
Truffle Cooking with Chef Alberto (November 18 and 21)
