Third Annual Caribbean Food & Wine Festival Starts On October 31st
The third annual Caribbean Food & Wine Festival will take place from October 31st to November 2nd, it's been announced. The festival, supported by the Turks and Caicos Tourist Board, will take place around the island and at several resorts, including Grace Bay Resorts. "The festival allows us to spotlight the remarkable culinary talent we have here in Turks and Caicos, and elevate the dining experience for visitors and guests by partnering with some of the world's best chefs and winemakers for a truly unique experience year after year," festival co-chair Anthony Garland said in a release. The notable chefs that the festival is partnering with this year include Momofuku Milk Bar's Christina Tosi, Top Chef contestant Tiffany Derry, and Nelson Mandela's personal chef Xoliswa Ndoyiya.
Festival-goers will have a chance to try chef Tosi's famed "crack" pie as well as her upside down pineapple cake truffles at the Welcome and Closing dinners. Chef Ndoyiya, who has cooked for Mandela for over twenty years, is cooking for the festival's first "Women of Wine" food and wine pairing luncheon on November 1st. Top Chef's Tiffany Derry, a season 7 contestant, will be cooking the Welcome dinner.
The food adventure continues with the seventh annual Gourmet Safari on November 1st, which gives diners a taste of dishes from restaurants around the island, and the second annual Island Street Food Fair on November 2nd, where twelve local chefs will serve grilled and barbecue selections. At 8 p.m. that night, chefs Tosi, Ndoyiya, and Derry will headline the "Dinner with the Stars" event at Grace Bay Club.
Ticket prices are listed on the festival's website, and reservations can be made at (649) 946-5050.
