The Manhattan Recipe

By

This story was allegedly created in honor of Jennie Jerome (aka Lady Randolph Churchill — Winston Churchill's mother).

Notes

Don’t love sweet vermouth? Substitute dry vermouth for a dry Manhattan.

Ingredients

  • 2 Ounces rye
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 Ounce sweet vermouth

Directions

In a chilled glass or cocktail shaker, add ice to the rye, vermouth and bitters, and stir for 30 seconds before straining into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry for a little added sweetness.
