Snarky Ice Cube Recipe Leads To Snarky Recipe Reviews

If your roommates keep doing that annoying thing where they forget to refill the ice cube tray after it's empty, send them this recipe for ice cubes. Perhaps they actually need it.

Over on Food.com, this helpfully passive-aggressive recipe teaches people how to make ice. The gist? Fill tray with cold water, carefully put in freezer, and freeze.

"I am publishing this recipe, because I am sure that there are other families who have members who don't know how or have forgotten how to make ice when the ice tray is empty," user ChrissyG wrote.

Of course, the commenters, as on every other recipe website, are going crazy, making suggestions ("It looked a bit thin so I added some kidney beans (half of a 15 oz. can) and some chicken stock. Try it, you'll like it!") and complaining about the lack of specificity. "This recipe is horrible!" one jokester wrote. "Maybe I should have left them in longer than two minutes (the recipe doesn't say how long to leave them in the freezer so I just kind of guessed) but mine came out all watery. I won't be making these again."

Our favorite snarky commenter, however, has to be the parody of the uber-organic, eco-friendly home cook. "I harvest my own free-range water, so the idea of putting it in a plastic tray and a commercially made electricity-wasting freezer disgusts me," donquiz66 wrote. "I prefer nature's method, waiting until the temperature outside drops below freezing." Head on over to food.com for all the amazing reviews, plus an actually helpful tip for making clearer ice (use hot water).
