Charleston Chef Sean Brock To Open Mexican Restaurant

Chef Sean Brock of Charleston's Husk and McCrady's has finally announced his long-awaited new project. In a press release earlier today, the Georgia-based Neighborhood Dining Group (NDG) revealed they will be partnering with Brock for an as-of-yet unnamed restaurant that will serve Mexican-style cuisine.

Brock and NDG are aiming for a later summer opening date for the new project, which will be close to McCrady's on historic East Bay Street. According to the release, the restaurant "will have a fun atmosphere, affordable menu, and casual service," with dishes "inspired by the food and culture of Mexico."

Since being hired as executive chef at McCrady's in 2006 and opening Husk in 2010, Brock has grown to become one of the biggest names in the Charleston food scene. His restaurants regularly pop up on country-wide "best of" lists, including The Daily Meal's own survey, which named both McCrady's and Husk two of the best restaurants in America earlier this year. Brock opened a second Husk location in Nashville last year.
