Samsung Launches Groundbreaking 2013 Home Appliance Line

Samsung Electronics America, Inc., America's fastest growing home appliance brand, has just released its new line of home appliances.

While the line does include an award-winning High Efficiency Top-Load Washer, the emphasis is on creating kitchen appliances that pair style and functionality for home cooks.

The series includes a Four Door Sparkling French Door Refrigerator, which has, alongside its still water dispenser, an automatic sparkling water dispenser thanks to a partnership with SodaStream; a T9000 Four Door Refrigerator with Convertible Zone, which allows for customized, compartmentalized cooling or freezing; and a Slide-in Flex Duo Oven Electric Range that allows the oven to be split into halves which heat simultaneously at separate temperatures.

With a desire to bring sleek, high-performing kitchens to the home cook, Samsung has partnered with six Michelin star-rated chefs—such as Christopher Kostow of The Meadowood in Napa Valley, CA, and Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli of New York City's Frankies Sputino—for inspiration and consultation.

As a way of displaying its products, Samsung has designed and opened Samsung House, outfitted with its fully functional new home appliances, in New York City's SoHo. Chef Kostow of The Meadowood demonstrated the Slide-in Flex Duo Oven Electric Range by cooking beef tenderloin "low and slow in butter" in the oven, which he praised for its reliability. Chefs "want to be able to trust that if the oven says it's 400 degrees, it's 400 degrees," he said.

He also tossed together a warm salad of baby squid and summer vegetables. His cooking at The Meadowood is very "vegetable forward," so he may not have been making what he does in his restaurant, but it was "very much something I would do at home," he said, highlighting the kitchen's functionality for both professional chefs and home chefs.

"If you ask any chef, what they want is solidity and sturdiness," he said—and it seems as though Samsung's new line provides just that.

The Samsung House will be open to the public June 15-16 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
