Restaurant Openings Report: The Week of May 11, 2014
Every week, we take a look at some of the restaurants that have opened or will soon open across the country. Here’s this week’s roundup:
Customizable ramen restaurant Ramen-san has opened in Chicago. Chef Doug Psaltis is creating the menu and mixologist Paul McGee will oversee drinks, including Japanese beers, whiskeys, and specialty cocktails.
The Malibu Sports Fishing Pier opened Malibu Pier Restaurant & Bar on May 15th. The menu, from chef Jason Fullilove, will feature local ingredients and sustainable seafood.
Modern American cuisine restaurant & lounge El’eat will open on Miami Beach’s Restaurant Row on May 29th. The restaurant will feature a marble bar serving cocktails, and chef Will Biscoe will create the menu.
On May 30, partners Kris Wessel and Roman Cherstvov will open the healthy concept Oolite Restaurant & Bar. The Miami Beach restaurant is set to feature regional flavors with limited processed ingredients and saturated fats.
On Memorial Day, The Butter Group will open 1 OAK Southampton, to be aimed at the Hamptons summer crowds. The club and restaurant already has locations in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and New York City.
ESquared Hospitality has opened Horchata, a Greenwich Village restaurant specializing in authentic Mexican concepts, tequila, and spiked horchata cocktails.
La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels has opened in New York City. The Parisian wine bar features close to 600 wines from the world served from an enomatic machine, and others available by the glass.
Dairy Queen will open its first-ever Manhattan location on May 27th. The 14th street location will feature DQ’s famous blizzards, as well as burgers, sandwiches, and some Manhattan-centric treats.
Jamaican restaurant Miss Lily’s will open its second location in the East Village on May 19th. The new outpost is set to feature lunch, dinner, and all-day breakfast.
Ethan Stowell Restaurants has opened Chippy’s Fish and Drink in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. The restaurant features a banquet space, a blond wood bar, and a 600-square-foot dining area.
