Notes

Note: This clafouti recipe goes well with almond ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Cup flour
  • 1/2 Cup granulated sugar
  • 4 medium eggs
  • 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 Cup milk
  • 1/2 Cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 Cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 Pound summer berries of your choice

Directions

Preheat the oven to 360 degrees.

Mix the sugar and flour in a bowl until combined. Next, mix in the eggs until combined, and then add the vanilla extract and pinch of salt. When those ingredients are mixed well, add the milk and heavy cream and the brown butter. Finally, add the berries to the mixture, and transfer the whole batter into a pre-buttered and sugared baking dish.

Bake the clafoutis for 45- 55 minutes, or until the blade of a knife, when inserted, comes out clean. Serve the dessert either warm or cold, depending on your preferences.

Summer Shopping Tip

As an alternative to sugary, salty, processed foods, try shopping for fruits and vegetables that are in season.

Summer Cooking Tip

For a healthier alternative, substitute honey or molasses for sugar in baking recipes, and use a 3:1 blend of canola oil to olive oil instead of butter when cooking over the flame.
