Salted Almond Tim Tam Brownies
Ingredients
  • melted butter, for greasing the pan
  • 4 ounce dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1½ cup superfine sugar (or granulated sugar)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 200-gram package of original tim tams, chopped
  • ½ cup almonds, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt flakes
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish with the melted butter and then line the dish with baking parchment.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, add the chocolate and the stick of butter and stir until melted and smooth. Cool slightly.
  3. Stir the sugar into the chocolate mixture before adding the eggs, 1 at a time, beating with a wooden spoon after each addition, until just combined. Stir in the vanilla.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder. Then, add the flour mixture to the chocolate and stir until just combined.
  5. Add the Tim Tams to the batter and then pour it into the prepared tin. Sprinkle the top of the batter with an even layer of almonds and sea salt flakes.
  6. Bake for 25—30 minutes or until firm. Cool the brownies in the baking dish on a wire rack. When they’re cool, remove them from the tin, cut them into pieces, and serve.
