Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich

Philly Cheesesteak Tailgate
Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich

Philadelphia is known for its cheesesteaks, which is why Eagles fans can grab one whenever they head to Lincoln Financial Field for a game. They call it a tailgate because it's easily created out in the parking lot, but they hope you head inside for the real thing.

  • 1 1/4 Cup Velveeta cheese, melted
  • 2 Pounds chopped sirloin
  • 1/2 Pound white onion, diced
  • 15-20 small banana peppers
  • Two 9-inch seeded club rolls
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Heat ½ stick of butter in a pan with the vegetable oil. Put the chopped onions in pan and sauté for 6-7 minutes or until onions are golden brown. Keep warm when done.

Heat the rest of the butter in a pan and add the meat. Cook for 5-6 minutes until meat is done and then drain the drippings. Salt and pepper to taste and remove from heat. Add the Velveeta cheese sauce to meat and mix. Add ½ pound of the steak and cheese mixture to each roll and top with the onions and 4-5 peppers.
