Whiskey-soaked cherries are the perfect addition to the "Gibby Gave Me Champagne!" Cocktail — or a manhattan.
Bring water, sugar, and bourbon to a boil. Add cinnamon, cloves, and orange zest. Reduce heat to low, and add cherries. Simmer for about twenty minutes, until cherries are coated in syrup but haven’t yet burst. Strain cherries, preserving in one tablespoon liquid. Discard leftover liquid.
