This snack-time favorite is inspired by the candied nuts on the menu at one of my favorite places in Providence, Rhode Island, La Laiterie. Chef Matt Jennings won’t reveal his top-secret recipe, so my family was left to trust our palate and attempt to recreate our addictive favorite at home.
This is one of my favorite go-to snacks to serve at 5 p.m. with a glass of bubbly, a cheese platter when entertaining, or simply as a garnish on my morning Greek yogurt parfait or hot oatmeal.
- ½ cup local honey
- 1 ½ cups salted mixed nuts
- ¼ cup Herbes de Provence
In a sauté pan over medium heat, heat honey until just bubbly. Add the salted nuts and the herbs and toss well to coat. Turn heat to medium-low and let the mixture cook for 2 minutes, tossing continuously. Turn the heat off and let cool, tossing every minute or so as the honey candies the nuts.
