Green With Envy Cocktail

Tequila cocktails don’t always have to be margaritas: Spice it up with this tantalizing drink

This smooth and spicy cocktail is ideal for celebrating National Tequila Day on July 24.

Ingredients

For the glass rim

  • 1 Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 Pinch of white pepper

For the cocktail

  • 1 3/4 Ounce tequila reposado, such as CRUZ Reposado Tequila
  • 3/4 Ounces lime juice
  • 3/4 Ounces honey water
  • 2 pieces green pepper
  • Dash of cayenne pepper

Directions

For the glass rim

Moisten the rim of the glass with a dab of water. Combine all the ingredients on a plate. Roll the rim of the glass in the spice mix until it’s covered to your taste.

For the cocktail

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Shake well and strain into a spice and salt-rimmed lowball glass.

Add another layer of flavor to your cocktails by making your own simple syrup – combine equal parts sugar and water with whatever aromatics you like – fresh herbs, whole spices, citrus, or chile peppers – heat to dissolve sugar and strain before using.
