Freedom's Flip Envy Cocktail

Amaretto sours are sticky-sweet, what most college students love, but the sour mix is enough to leave a bad taste in our mouths. But this recipe from Freedman's Bar in Austin (located in the University of Texas' west campus) has us believing in sours once again. Mix up a chicory coffee syrup, and you won't be disappointed.

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 ounce angel's envy bourbon
  • 1/4 ounce disaronno amaretto
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 1 ounce chicory coffee syrup
  • 1 ounce egg white
  • 1 cup brewed chicory coffee
  • 2 cup water
  • 3 cup sugar
Directions
  1. First dry shake ingredients, then add ice and shake again. Strain into cocktail glass, Serve up with lemon peel.
  2. Bring liquids to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Slowly stir sugar in until completely dissolved. Turn off heat and let syrup cool before refrigerating.
