Applesauce Salsa

Applesauce. Good. Salsa. Good. Applesauce salsa? Great! Although you can use homemade applesauce, store-bought, chunky applesauce makes this recipe easy to recreate. There's nothing wrong with traditional tomato based salsas. However, applesauce salsa delivers an exciting alternative. The sweet and tangy flavor profile pairs well with dishes like pork tostadas or roast.

Ingredients

  • 16 Ounces chunky applesauce
  • 1 small red onion, diced
  • 2 Tablespoons minced cilantro
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 Teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 Teaspoon salt

Directions

In a medium bowl, combine applesauce, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, garlic, cumin, and salt.

Refrigerate several hours or overnight.
